what kind of media institution mights distribute your media product and why?- For my magazine I would distribute it nationally because my product is appropriate for all places around the country not just a certain place. I would choose to work with a larger company due to the higher rates of success such as IPC media because this would bring a better reputation as a magazine and a company. I would sell the magazine monthly because this way people have to wait for my magazine longer making them more eager to buy it, because when magazines are sold weekly people know that it is going to have only this weeks buisness in, however in my magazine it would have the whole month of R&B music all crammed into one magazine. I may not get better profit but the success rate is much higher and this is what I would prefer, people to know my magazine. If I was to work with a smaller company I would gain most of the profits however the product would be less successful and wouldn't make as much money as a company. I would choose to sell my magazine in all convenience shops in the music section.

Progression from preliminary- In my preliminary I didn't use much effects and I was less creative with my ideas. In my Final edition I spent more time thinking about my colour schemes, so I was aiming more at a certain audience as in gender and genre. I also looked in detail at other aspects of magazines such as barcodes so my work looked more professional, and I looked more deeply into aiming my magazine at a certain audience, in my preliminary I didn't have a certain target audience so it would not have worked when been distributed, however in my final piece I chose to aim my magazine at 16-21 year olds so there would be better sales. Using colour schemes and dress codes helped me achieve this because that age group could relate to the magazine with the dress code and colour schemes as it is stereotypically used in R&B magazines.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?-When making my media product (magazine) I have used Industry standard equipment and technology such as photoshop. I have used photoshop for 2 years now and I have never got to grip with the different editing techniques such as strokes, bevel and emboss and the different gradients. In my preliminary I only used strokes and my work looked more GCSE level rather than A level. later in my production I started off by not experimenting and just using what skills I know but then I realised that my work was not up to a decent standard I began to experiment with the different settings and techniques and my magazine started to look much better.
The bevel and emboss brings out the picture and makes the background contrast much better with the picture and the puffs. The different gradients made the writing more professional.

how did your product represent particular social groups?/who would be the audience of your media product?- in my magazine I have chosen an age range between 16-21. I chose this age range because in that age gap I believe that they listen to the same kind of music and dress particularly the same and would be able to mix with each other. My colour schemes and dress codes in my magazine are aimed at 16-21 year olds as I have seen what they wear and took that and brought it into my magazine. My magazine only ranges between 16-21 year olds because 15 is the age were your waiting to become a 16 year old and you haven't got to mad weekends yet. And after 21 you tend to start looking to settle down a bit more and begin to let the partying and the late nights on the booze leave you. This is why my language is more aimed at the younger generation. The magazine is more aimed at boys than girls as my colours are different types of blues which represents boys and the bright blues give a sense of vibrancy which links to clubbing and flashing lights on a night out. There are some more feminine colours such as yellows and the lighter colours. My magazine is aimed at mainly R&B fans, people who are big R&B fans should notice this from the dress code with the sunglasses the hat and laid back look. I did this because then it is a conventional feature of a R&B magazine and I wanted it to be known as a big R&B magazine not a wide range of genres. The positives of this are that my magazine has stereotypical features of an R&B magazine so it will attract a good audience in that sense, however since my magazine is solely based on R&B then it wont attract a bigger audience than a chart music magazine because that will attract all genders and audiences.

in what way does your media product use, develop, challenge forms and conventions of real media product?- my product uses conventional features of a magazine, for example I have stereotypically used barcodes, superimposition, puffs etc. These features are used in most magazines, I have chosen to use these because I believe that my magazine is a conventional one so I didn't use any unconventional features and that my audience will be able to recognise it as a music magazine. I have given conventional and relavant information in my contents page, i think that this should be a conventional feature because it helps the reader know what is in the magazine. In my two page spread I have used stereotypical features such as having a main picture so the audience recognise the main attraction and who the two page spread is about. I superimpositioned the main picture over part of the main attractions name, this is the only unconventional feature that, I have done this so people do not know his name hopefully this would invite the reader in and decide to read more deeply.
